Hooded Plover conservation is a real passion of mine, both professionally and personally. I spend a large amount of time in the field with these birds learning their behaviour and protecting them as a member of Birds Australia’s ‘Beach-nesting birds project’ team (along with many other amazingly dedicated volunteers).

Many of the photo’s here involve actively breeding birds, nests and young. The birds are incredibly sensitive during these times and these photos have all been obtained under strictly controlled conditions. Many photos involve hours, even days of observation and subtle approach - there’s just no other way to do it. Breeding birds should never be approached unless under strictly controlled conditions.
